Wanna learn life lessons when you aren’t willing to? Or how about seeing how other people deal with YOUR problems? Well, this movie is for you! Drop Dead Fred is a classic movie, although it was made in 1991. Drop Dead Fred is a movie that everyone should see because there is a lot of relevance within the movie that relates to our lives as teens! The movie is about a young woman; who’s attempting to find her place in the world. It is a very comical movie, but within the comedy there are some movie qualities that have good meanings behind them, and you can actually take it in to relate to your very own life.
Many times in life you find yourself trying to fit into the world in every way you possibly can. You do things that aren’t “you” to change yourself to fit in with peers. I believe that you should live your life in the way that you would not want to change for anyone! There is a scene in the movie that relates to this is when Elizabeth is going through a divorce with her husband Charles. He had cheated on her and she wanted him back, which tends to happen in real life. She was trying to change herself for him, but in the end, it did not work out the way she had wanted it to. This goes to show that when you try to be someone you’re not, it does not always work out in your favor! So be yourself, and live to please yourself and those that love you.
Now in reality, teens between the ages of 15-18 are at constant battle trying to find their place in the world, which was and always will be a struggle. Some turn to materialistic things; some want alcohol and drugs to try and fit in. Teens are always in search for what type of crowd fits them, who to hang out with, and what exactly to do in their adolescent life. Some of us actually believe that if you do not “life to please”, then you will never find your place in a world where pleasing is believing. You always hope for the best, and expect the worst when you search within yourself to find “yourself”.
A quote in Drop Dead Fred that I live by is, “You see when something’s not working right, the best thing to do is tear it apart to make it better!” Sometimes when things aren’t looking too good, or you are going through a hard time, then you imagine a lot on the things that are going to go bad, but I believe that we should always look at the things in our lives that we have and the positives in our lives! We can take in those thoughts of the good and make our hard time better! So when you find yourself mourning on loss in life and things just aren’t great, watch this movie and find the morals you can relate to and make it better!
Being a believer in “change”, I suggest that everyone change their bad outlooks on life and CHANGE them for themselves. This movie could help you start to look within yourself, but only you can change for the better. I hope you all learn from this movie as I did, and I hope you take the time to relate the problems Elizabeth faces in her life!
